Altar de Nossa Senhora da Conceição

No altar de Nossa Senhora da Conceição no nicho central foi colocado como conjunto, Nossa Senhora e seus pais, Santa Ana e São Joaquim. Primitivamente, estas três esculturas não pertenciam ao mesmo grupo escultórico. São Joaquim e Santa Ana apresentam os braços descaídos, num gesto de segurar a mão de uma Nossa Senhora Menina. Assim as esculturas em questão, dos pais da Virgem não pertenciam a este altar dedicado à Virgem da Conceição sobre crescente lunar, ao centro.

Estes esculturas em madeira estofada policromada e dourada, foram realizadas por encomenda da confraria de Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Sé, no final do século XVII e destinavam-se a um altar existente no transepto.

Podem atribuir-se a uma oficina regional do círculo de Manuel Pereira.

No nicho lateral da direita uma escultura de madeira estofada policromada e dourada de São Bento, de uma oficina portuguesa de meados do século XVII.

À esquerda uma escultura de madeira estofada policromada e dourada de São Simão, Apóstolo, de uma oficina portuguesa de meados do século XVII.

Altar of Our Lady of Conception

On the altar of Our Lady of Conception in the central niche was placed as a group, Our Lady and her parents, Saint Anne and Saint Joachim. Originally, these three sculptures did not belong to the same sculptural group. Saint Joachim and Saint Anne have their arms down, in a gesture of holding the hand of a Virgin Mary. Therefore, the sculptures in question, of the Virgin's parents, did not belong to this altar dedicated to the Virgin of the Conception on the lunar crescent, in the center.

These polychrome and gilded upholstered wood sculptures were made by order of the brotherhood of Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Sé, at the end of the 17th century and were intended for an altar in the transept.

They can be attributed to a regional workshop in Manuel Pereira's circle.

In the side niche on the right there is a polychrome and gilded upholstered wooden sculpture of São Bento, from a Portuguese workshop from the mid-17th century.

On the left a polychrome and gilded upholstered wooden sculpture of Saint Simon, Apostle, from a Portuguese workshop from the mid-17th century.
